Yesterday I made the comment to my supervisor that
“… i’ve been pretty lucky“
to which he responded that he finds the people who work hardest seem to have the most luck… what a lovely compliment that was! It led me to reflect on my concept of ‘luck’ and what makes me feel so lucky… and it somehow always comes back to saying Yes!
When you say Yes to opportunities, it seems even more doors open. When you say Yes to finding ways to honour your true self, you reframe your own understanding of the world and your place in it. Reframing towards positivity can sometimes make you think it’s luck… You’re lucky because you’re offered the opportunity, lucky because you feel so fulfilled, lucky because your life seems to be going the ways you want it to.
But maybe it’s not luck. Maybe, as he said, it’s about hard work, and taking opportunities, about finding ways to reframe your understanding of the world – about saying Yes to being yourself, and saying Yes to being open to change.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all be so “lucky”?
